I’m looking for suggestions from hardcore fans on how I can give my 11 year old daughter the best concert experience and win major Dad points. It’s her favourite group. She’s my favourite human. I know very little about Black Pink right now, but I’m open to literally anything no matter how ridiculous or expensive.
1) Light hammers – which one should I buy? Are their knock offs to avoid?
2) Clothing – should I buy shirts and merch in advance? Possibly a dumb question but should I wear black and pink? What is the coolest approach?
3) Should I dye my hair pink?
4) Are there dance moves I need to learn?
5) Glow sticks? Are these cool?
6) What am I missing?
I want to make this a core memory evening she will never forget. I appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you!! ❤️

I highly recommend you buy the light hammers from reputable stores (I got mines off kpopmerch.com) for the experience. They squeak so they’re basically a toy.
You can wear either black or pink if you want, you don’t have to. They do sell merch at the day of the concert but lines are usually long so buy them in advance when available or buy their previous merch.
Pink hair, if you want you can but you don’t have to.
There’s probably a dance challenge by the near end of the show, they’ll play the dances in case you chosen on camera to do the challenge, just follow the original MV played alongside.
If you can’t get the light hammers, then you can pink glow sticks.
Just have fun with your daughter, that’s what matters.
they sell the light sticks at the concerts (but you can buy them online https://www.musicplaza.com/products/%eb%b8%94%eb%9e%99%ed%95%91%ed%81%ac-blackpink-official-light-stick-ver-2 they’re reliable!)
They also sell merch in concerts, but you can get merch online. If not, wearing black and pink is a good idea.
Glow sticks would be an amazing idea also, along with the hair.
Dance moves, not really. There’s not enough space to be dancing necessarily lol.
Honestly you’re not missing anything, it can be an amazing and fun experience without these things!
I’ve not been to a BP concert yet, so I can’t comment on what to expect with the concert itself, but my friend and I are planning to recreate a couple outfits from past performances / music videos to wear to the concert we’re going to. I don’t know if that’s something your daughter would be into — (I don’t how kids her age feel about “dressing up” haha) — but if it is, that could definitely add to the memories if she’s excited to wear an outfit worn by one of her idols! If there’s any (age-appropriate) outfits she particularly likes that you think you could pull off duplicating, maybe an idea to consider?
Thank you for embracing your daughters likes and wanting to give her an amazing time, I hope the both of you enjoy yourselves so much 🖤🩷
My recommendations for clothing is that pink and black is always good and safe to go for, you’ll see a lot of people dressed in those colours at the concert! In regards to merch, don’t worry if you don’t have anything in advance – anything pink/black will do and I’m sure you daughter would be over the moon if you got her an official shirt at the venue.
Hopefully they’ll sell the lightsticks at the venue but sometimes they sell out fast, you can find them online at some dedicated kpop websites and then eBay is sometimes a safe guess if the seller has good reviews! You could try googling to see if there’s a kpop shop in your area/state as sometimes they will have lightsticks in stock. If you don’t feel comfortable trusting the websites and you’re worried they’ll sell out on the day, any pink lightstick or glow stick is good!!
Are you surprising her with the tickets or does she know about them? If she knows, you could even go as far as to ask her if she has a favourite outfit from one of the MVs she’d like to try to recreate, or if she wants to make a sign or bracelets (it’s very common to see friendship style bracelets at kpop concerts, sometimes fans will trade bracelets for fun!) you could have fun listening to their music and doing those things together to lead up to the big day!!
my guy! from now on i will call them LIGHT HAMMERS!!!
have a great time! Blackpink has so much content online that you would hopefully enjoy and convert you to them. i promise you that once you go down that rabbit hole those 4 girls would make you their fan! also, you being a fan and talking to your daughter about them would be so much better than buying merch for her. imagine having someone to talk to about her ult group at home is more priceless than any merch or photo card in her room.
I would get the light sticks before the concert, lines at the concert for them can be really long and don’t want to waste time to get them
I’d get there early to take pictures, they should have multiple photo ops around outside and inside the venue
Can get tour shirts on Etsy to wear there and get actual concert merch once you are there (might be able to order actual merch early)
I’m bringing all 3 if my daughter’s to the concert in LA and they are really excited. Hope you guys have a great time
I’m so jealous! Can you adopt me? It would be the best night of my life too! Seriously though, you are the best dad ever!!!
1. I personally like 4town4u but there are a lot of knock offs on the web. If you really wanna price match and do research, make sure the website is Hanteo-certified but tbh it’s not THAT serious.
2. Concert fits are a huge part of the kpop concert experience imo! Shirts and merch are always fun but for the extra mile you can always be creative and design your own fits for you and/or your daughter. Good inspiration are Pinterest boards or trying to base it off of music videos (for instance the Shut Down music video has very iconic outfits! With age appropriate modifications as you see fit of course).
3. You can but this is definitely more eccentric lol, bright hair is a staple of kpop but (probably) not for this era of blackpink going forward and most fans probably won’t. Definitely a good way to stand out and create some fun for her though since that is the goal after all!
4. I think this would be a really really fun way to connect! We’re all waiting (hoping) for a new album release so new and unreleased dances will come with that for you guys to learn together but there are tons of previous dance practice videos on YouTube too!
5. Very cool, you can obviously get pink ones but if you know her favorite member: Jisoo is usually represented by purple, Jennie used a lot of red colors, Lisa loves yellow, and I’m actually not sure about Rosé but they surprised her with white lights in the Philippines during her solo on their last tour so?
6. Part of the kpop experience is there are freebies! People will give out photocards or friendship bracelets and other goodies so be ready to accept those and maybe even have a few for her to give out?
In kpop it’s relatively normal for fans to have a favorite member and in blackpink, they have each have a particularly strong solo following. Learning your daughter’s preferences (one member over another or all equally) might help cater to her experience depending how passionate she is about that area.
Final thing is fanchants lol. It’s not as big in western audiences but instead of singing along with the lyrics (which is completely normal and most people still do), sometimes a song will have a fanchant. Again, we’re waiting for the new album but here’s my favorite and I think probably the easiest to remember as an example: https://youtube.com/shorts/mF1xyUu5WpA?feature=shared
